In Memoriam: Daniel Cunningham
We report with deep sadness the passing of Daniel Cunningham, a founding Board Member of P.R.I.M.E. Finance. Prior to his passing, the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Board recognized Dan's many contributions to P.R.I.M.E. and the legal world at its most recent meeting.
In light of Dan's passing, we would like to share the unanimous resolution adopted at the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Board meeting, which is set forth below.
In Recognition of Extraordinary Service and Leadership, the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Management Board Adopts this Resolution in Honor of Daniel P. Cunningham
Whereas, Daniel P. Cunningham is a truly recognized international market expert in finance;
Whereas, Dan was one of the original drafters of the ISDA Master Agreement;
Whereas, after years as a practicing lawyer with the widest possible experience of the financial markets, Dan shared a vision that saw the need for a specialized tribunal for complex financial cases;
Whereas, in recognition of this need and in furtherance of this vision, Dan became one of the founding fathers of the Panel of Recognized International Market Experts (P.R.I.M.E.) Finance;
Whereas, among his many noteworthy contributions, Dan made personal recommendations for experts to be named to the Panel of Experts;
Whereas, Dan facilitated judicial training sessions for the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court and presented at such sessions for judges of Delaware’s and Singapore’s highest courts;
Whereas, Dan was the primary drafter of the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Arbitration Rules;
Whereas, Dan has served on the Executive Committee of the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Management Board and as an officer of the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Foundation;
Whereas, Dan has given generously of his time and money to P.R.I.M.E. Finance since the time of its founding;
Whereas, Dan’s knowledge, leadership, and generosity have had, and will continue to have, a lasting impact on P.R.I.M.E. Finance;
Whereas, the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Board recently became aware that Dan has been unwell and would wish him to know that our thoughts are with him, and we hope that a reminder of the high esteem in which he is held will serve as a tonic at this time;
Therefore, be it unanimously resolved, that the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Board hereby expresses its deepest appreciation for the outstanding contributions made by Daniel P. Cunningham during his years of service in support of P.R.I.M.E. Finance, acknowledges that he is a legend in his own time and extends its best wishes to him.
Be it further unanimously resolved that a copy of this resolution be entered permanently into the minutes of Stichting P.R.I.M.E. Finance Foundation.
Signed on this eighteenth day of February, Two Thousand and Nineteen
