Chief Executive Officer, Pan Asian Securities Lending Association (PASLA)

Stephen Howard is the Chief Executive Officer of the Pan Asian Securities Lending Association (PASLA) representing over 65 financial institutions in developing the Securities Financing market across Asia Pacific. 

He is an expert in equity products, including cash equities, OTC options, listed derivatives, corporate derivatives, Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s), securities lending, securities financing, and structured equity products, and has served in various leadership roles across the financial industry. 

As an expert witness, he provides independent opinions on financial market risk assessments, disputes, tribunals and litigation for complex financial disputes.

Previously the principal for a Financial Consulting Business in Hong Kong, and from 2014 to 2017, was the Head of Trading and a Portfolio Manager for an Asia Ex-Japan Multi Strategy Hedge Fund. 

Mr Howard began his sell-side career with JPMorgan where he worked in the Equity Derivative Group from 1994 to 2004, undertaking roles in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong; taking a leadership role for one of their Asian trading businesses since 2000.

Recruited to ABN Amro in 2004 he led the delta one flow derivative business and was a key member of the Equities Management Committee. Navigating the business through its acquisition by RBS-NatWest he was asked Co-Head the Global Equity Prime and Corporate Derivatives business, and later becoming the Head of Equity Derivatives in Asia.

He has served as a Board Advisor to the Sydney Stock Exchange, and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director, heading the Audit and Risk committees for a Hong Kong N.G.O. focusing on health outcomes.
