Samallie is a finance lawyer with expertise in structured finance, capital markets, securitisation, derivatives, lending, trade finance, funds, financial regulations and sustainable development.

Samallie has worked in law firms, investment banks and multilateral development organisations. Samallie is currently the Global General Counsel for the Corporate and Investment Bank at Standard Chartered. She is based in Singapore.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2023, Samallie spent 6.5 years in Cairo where she was the General Counsel at the African Export-Import Bank (“Afreximbank”), a multilateral development finance institution devoted to financing trade across Africa. This role involved advising on a wide range of  matters including structured finance, payment and settlement systems, private equity and project finance.  During this period, Samallie worked with International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) to increase awareness of ISDA’s mandate across Africa.  

Prior to working in development finance, Samallie was the Global Head of the Securitisation Regulatory Policy and Advisory Group at Deutsche Bank. Samallie has also worked at Clifford Chance in London and Ashurst in Sydney. 

Samallie has a first-class Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Masters in Law and Finance from the University of London.
