Richard L. Sandor (Ph.D., Dr. sc. h. c.) is Chairman and CEO of Environmental Financial Products, LLC. He serves as the Aaron Director Lecturer in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School and holds honorary professorships at the University of Hong Kong and Fudan University. Widely recognized as the “father of financial futures,” he has also been a pioneering figure in environmental finance and carbon markets.
Dr. Sandor’s contributions have earned international recognition, including being named a “Hero of the Planet” by TIME magazine and later one of its “Heroes of the Environment” for his role as the “Father of Carbon Trading.” In 2013, France awarded him the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur for his accomplishments in environmental finance. He serves on multiple advisory boards and has previously held board positions at major U.S. and international exchanges, leading utility companies, and nonprofit organizations.
An accomplished author, Dr. Sandor has written extensively on finance, technology, and environmental markets. His recent books include Electronic Trading and Blockchain: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and Carbon Hunters: Reflections and Forecasts of Climate Markets in the 21st Century. He holds a B.A. from Brooklyn College (CUNY), a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, and an honorary Doctor of Science degree from ETH Zurich.
