Expert resume of Michael Hamill
CEDR accredited mediator | UK lawyer (barrister) | Formerly in-house investment banking counsel at Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan | Extensive banking and financial markets experience, particularly with derivatives, structured finance (credit) and emerging markets
Michael Hamill is a UK lawyer (barrister), and a CEDR* accredited mediator, with extensive banking and financial markets expertise. He spent over 15 years as in-house legal counsel at major investment banks dealing with a wide range of banking and financial markets issues, particularly with derivatives, structured finance (credit) and emerging markets.
During his years with Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan, he was actively involved in numerous ISDA derivative documentation initiatives across equity, fixed-income, credit, and emerging markets, bringing both legal and market knowledge together to help settle market norms for those markets. During this time, he was also a popular speaker on numerous derivative panels and conferences, during which he was able to disseminate legal and market expertise to the wider market.
Michael has successfully negotiated thousands of commercial transactions and disputes in both the UK and internationally, and this has helped him to develop a keen sense for where and how a deal can be done, and a feel for the ‘people factors’ that may need to be resolved in getting to that solution.
*CEDR is the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution and its accreditation is acknowledged worldwide as a standard of excellence for mediators.
