Maria João Parreira F. Leite presently serves as Secretary-General in the Portuguese Treasury and Public Debt Management Office (IGCP, E.P.E.), wich is in charge of the issuance and management of the Portuguese State debt (including State owned enterprises).
Prior she worked as Head of IGCP's Legal Affairs and as Advisor to the Secretary of State for Treasury and to the Secretary of State of Finance of the Portuguese Government.
Maria João joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative Office in Portugal as Economic and Legal Affairs Officer from June 2012 to April 2014, covering areas such as Corporate Debt Restructuring, State Reform – Public Expenditure Review (wages & pensions) and Economy Deleveraging (household & corporate insolvency).
She is a Lawyer (registered in the Portuguese Bar Association).
Maria João has an undergraduate degree in Law and a Post-Graduate degree in European Studies and worked at Lisbon Law University teaching Commercial & Companies Law, European Law and Management & Markets of Public Debt.
