Jamila Piracci advises market participants on regulatory and trading issues pertaining to derivatives, serves as an independent director of the Futures Industry Association and of DevvStream Holdings Inc., and is an advisory board member of Itegriti Corporation. She also provides support to public interest initiatives as a Member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee and as a Senior Fellow for Life:Powered.

Previously, Ms. Piracci was Counsel at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (New York Fed), where she focused on orderly liquidation authority, as well as on over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives issues. In the early phase of her time there, she contributed to a study regarding credit derivatives and supported negotiations with foreign central banks. 

Ms. Piracci also spent nearly a decade as outside counsel to OTC derivatives market participants and also was a lawyer for the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), supporting projects including operational solutions for novation challenges and auction methodologies for credit default swaps.  She also chaired working groups that developed ISDA’s original synthetic securities templates.

Later, Ms. Piracci built and led the National Futures Association's (NFA) swaps regulatory program under the Dodd-Frank Act from its inception in 2011 until 2019. Her responsibilities included recruiting and managing nearly 120 staff, reporting to NFA’s chief executives and board, collaborating with CFTC directors and commissioners, and coordinating with other regulatory bodies.

Ms. Piracci graduated from Harvard-Radcliffe College and received her master of business administration and law degrees from Cornell University.
