Guy Dempsey is a retired partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. His practice was concentrated on derivatives and structured products and on bank regulation. He is exceptionally familiar with the workings of over-the-counter derivatives across all asset classes and transaction types, as well as with the corporate governance, regulatory, collateral, compliance, insolvency and litigation issues associated with such products. Mr. Dempsey is also expert in the banking laws and regulations relating to capital markets activities. He has a strong practical background in preventive management of legal risks, design of compliance programs, regulatory relations, transaction management, product development, and policy creation and implementation.
Prior to joining Katten, Mr. Dempsey was co-head of the Derivatives Practice Group at Latham & Watkins LLP, and before that he was a managing director at Barclays Capital, where he held a number of senior positions, including General Counsel for the Americas. He began his career at White & Case LLP and he was also a managing director and counsel at Bankers Trust Company, practicing law in both New York and London.
