David Geen is a Senior Technical Advisor in the Legal Directorate of the Bank of England. His role includes co-ordinating the Directorate’s coverage of FinTech issues and overseeing its support for benchmark transition. He was previously the Bank’s Deputy General Counsel for Central Banking and prior to that held various divisional management positions within the Legal Directorate.
Before joining the Bank of England in 2016, Mr. Geen was General Counsel of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), which he joined in 2006. He held that post through the financial crisis and through the post-crisis changes to derivatives markets.
Before joining ISDA, Mr. Geen was an Executive Director and Senior Counsel at Goldman Sachs in London, where he variously headed and co-headed the London derivatives team within the Legal Department, covering OTC derivatives sales and trading as well as synthetic credit and CDO desks.
Mr. Geen started his legal career at Baker & McKenzie in London, becoming a partner in 1997. He is a graduate of Warwick University in the UK.
