Throughout his career, Alan has held key leadership positions at major global financial institutions. As Head of Distribution for Renaissance Capital/RBS in Moscow, he managed a team focused on funding, repo transactions, FX, and derivatives. His background also includes serving as Head of Distribution at Barclays Capital in Johannesburg, where in addition to overseeing a team running a flow business, he originated and executed complex derivative and structured financing transactions for corporate and public sector clients.

Alan began his banking career at JPMorgan in London. During this tenure, he traded debt, FX, interest rate, and credit products across various emerging markets. His technical expertise earned him many industry accolades, including Risk Magazine ranking him first in Greek Drachma and Central European derivatives, and achieving the top ranking for South African bonds from PWC.

Alan has also been an expert witness and strategic consultant in a number of high-profile derivatives disputes in South Africa, collaborating with leading market participants and major law firms.

He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, an MA in Politics from the University of Cape Town, and a BSc in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.
