Akash is Legal Head for Deutsche Bank’s Sales and Trading business across Asia Pacific. Qualified as a Solicitor in the UK, he is a versatile lawyer with expertise in transactional and regulatory matters. Akash has 28 years of experience in the legal industry and financial markets.
As a subject matter expert in the legal domain and a specialist in the derivatives space, Akash is highly regarded as a visionary lawyer and leader in the banking industry. He has contributed to the growth of Singapore as a leading global financial centre and to the development of the derivatives markets in the region through his key engagements in various industry associations and working groups such as ISDA, SFEMC, EMTA etc. Akash chaired the ISDA Legal and Regulatory Committee for eight years from 2008 till 2016.
Beyond his bank and industry commitments, Akash is also a champion for community causes, both in and outside the bank. As Deutsche Banks’ principal champion for corporate social responsibility programmes, he leads the strategy and programme management for the bank’s philanthropic activities in Singapore. Akash is also a passionate crusader for championing mental health initiatives. He initiated and leads the Bank’s employee support program called dbMinds, is a board member of the Singapore Mental Health Film Festival, an ambassador for Caring for Life and actively involved in the Workwell Leaders Forum.
Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Akash was with JPMorgan Chase Bank, State Bank of India and the Stock Holding Corporation.
Akash holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics Hons) from St. Stephens College (India); LLB from the University of Delhi and an MBA in Finance from the Asian Institute of Management. He is also on the curriculum advisory board of Singapore University of Social Sciences for their Non-Profit Management Program. He continues to be involved in and champions various industry initiatives in the derivatives area. He enjoys trekking, yoga and photography in his free time.
