Jean-François Adelle is a banking and finance partner of Jeantet AARPI law firm in Paris and Avocat admitted to practice before the Court of Appeal of Paris, France. He advises financial institutions, investment funds, fintechs and French and international large corporations on transactional, debt restructuring, regulatory and litigation matters, mainly in international cases. He heads the firm’s Legal Opinions Committee.

He assists his clients in a wide range of general and structured finance transactions, debt restructuring, regulatory advice and financial engineering related to credit disintermediation, trusts (fiducie), crypto assets and derivatives, and is involved in litigation matters relating to financial transactions. 

Jean-François serves as Co-Chair of the Banking Law Committee of the International Bar Association. He has authored several book chapters and many articles in, and regularly speaks about, secured transactions, syndicated financings, trusts, disintermediation, and financial disputes related topics, in English and in French. He has chaired the marketplace law committee of Paris Europlace on security and trusts law whose reports inspired legislative reforms in the areas of trusts and security interests, as well as the creation of the French ad hoc regime for security trustees. He has also acted co-leader of work stream “international financing” of the ICC task force Financial institutions and international arbitration.

He is recognised in many leading legal directories (IFLR, Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal Banking, Best lawyers). Jean-François graduated from the law schools of Nancy (magna cum laude), Paris Panthéon-Assas, the Paris Institute of Comparative Law (magna cum laude) and holds an LL.M from the Carey Law School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked as an associate with Shearman & Sterling in Paris. He is fluent in English and French.
