Ms. Costa e Silva is a Professor of Law at the Lisbon University. She specializes in Arbitration, Securities, Civil Procedure Law and Legal Theory teaching, both at undergraduate and master level.

Ms. Costa e Silva is also Vice-Chair of the Board of the Commercial Arbitrration Center of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is also a member of the Consulting Council of Concordia, a centre for conciliation, mediation and arbitration situated in Lisbon.

Ms. Costa is chair  of both the Institute for Brazilian Law of the Faculty of Law of the Lisbon University (Instituto de Direito Brasileiro) and the Board of Directors of the Securities Institute. She is also a member of the editorial board of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and an honorary effective member of the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law. 

Ms. Costa e Silva is active in the legal community acting as Legal Consultant and Arbitrator, being a Counsel at the Portuguese Bar Association since 1988 as well as, more recently, at the Brazilian Bar Association.
