Based in The Bahamas, Bertha Mae Cooper-Rousseau, (FCIArb), is the Managing Partner at Rousseau & Cooper Law Firm and a Door Tenant of 3 Hare Court, Temple London.

Bertha is the founding Chair of The Bahamas Branch of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, (2011 – 2014). She is widely recognised as one of The Bahamas’ pioneers for the development of Arbitration and Mediation and capacity building for professionals in ADR.

Having been appointed by the Government of The Bahamas to the Panel of Arbitrators and Conciliators of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, (ICSID), Bertha has served on numerous ad hoc Committees. She is on the panel of several notable international arbitration and mediation institutions such as the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC); Insurance Commission of The Bahamas; British Virgin Islands International Arbitration Centre, (BVIIAC); CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement.

Bertha is a Bencher of The Honourable Society of Middle Temple. She is also a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrator and serves as Council Member for the Caribbean and the Americas of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association. She is Vice President of The Bahamas Chapter, Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association, (WISTA). Bertha is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Botswana.
